Young CI user Mohammad Hamza from Kahmir loves his sound processor. Born as profound deaf, he received cochlear implant at age of 4 years. After getting a speech therapy session for one year he is now at sentence level. He is now going to a normal school and enjoying his life. " our son has made enormous progress everyday and his cochlear implant has become an inseparable part of him." says his mother.
A 62-year-old man from Kohat experienced gradual hearing loss over four years. After extensive testing, he was advised by his CI surgeon to get a cochlear implant. Despite initial reluctance, he received the implant in 2017 and experienced a sense of independence and enjoyment. The man encourages others to try the procedure and encourages others to explore more options for hearing loss.
I was born deaf into a hearing family and a hearing environment, which means that I had no role models and no mentors that could have supported me during my childhood. When I was 5 years old, I got my cochlear implant. At that time, I was struggling to communicate, which was especially hard during my time in school. I understood that getting a CI would be the only option for me to have full access to society.
Mr. Abdullah tells about his gradual hearing loss at age five, which progressed to profound sensorineural hearing loss. He struggled with communication and lip reading. He was able to hear sounds right away after having a cochlear implant at the age of eight.
